Dry Method (recommended)

Tools/items required:

  • Felt Squeegee (a bank card  or squeegee wrapped in a cloth will do)
  • A pin or needle
  • Craft Knife/Exacto Knife
  • Cleaning Solution (water with a little washing up liquid)
  • Masking Tape
  • Tape Measure

  • Thoroughly clean the windscreen with your soap solution to remove all dirt, grit and grease. make sure windscreen is clean and dry.
  • Measure down from each side of the top of the screen and apply a little masking tape, to mark the same length at each side of the windscreen. This will help ensure the strip is applied ‘straight’
  • Apply tape down the centre of the sun strip and windscreen.
  • Remove backing paper from the one side of the sun strip, and cut off backing paper
  • Squeegee the sun strip to screen starting from the middle working out leaving the excess at the sides and top.
  • Pin prick any bubbles that won’t go away and press flat.
  • Trim off excess vinyl with a sharp knife
  • It takes a while for the water to dry and the adhesive to cure, please leave it as long as you can. if it isn’t sticky it could fly off!

Wet Method (DO NOT WET THE PAPER BACKING)

Tools/items required:

  • Squeegee (a credit or bank card will do)
  • A pin or needle
  • Craft Knife/Exacto Knife
  • Soap Solution (water with a little washing up liquid)
  • Masking Tape
  • Tape Measure
  1. Thoroughly clean the windscreen with your soap solution to remove all dirt, grit and grease. Do NOT use window cleaner or similar cleaning products
  2. Measure down from each side of the top of the screen and apply a little masking tape, to mark the same length at each side of the windscreen. This will help ensure the strip is applied ‘straight’
  3. Once rinsed, leave a thin layer of soap solution on the screen
  4. Remove backing paper from the sun strip and apply a thin smearing of soap solution to the sun strip, DO NOT WET THE PAPER BACKING WHILST IT IS ON THE SUN STRIP AS THE PAPER WONT COME OFF!!
  5. Apply sun strip to screen leaving the excess at the sides and top. The soap solution will allow movement of the strip to ensure it’s placed centrally
  6. With a squeegee or bank card wrapped in a cloth squeeze out excess water and air bubbles from under the strip, the side of a credit card is a handy tool for this (wrapping it in a cloth should stop it scratching the vinyl). Pin prick any bubbles that won’t go away and press flat.
  7. Trim off excess vinyl with a sharp knife
  8. When it is fitted and you are happy, leave it to DRY TOTALLY before driving off – It takes a while for the water to dry and the adhesive to cure, please leave it as long as you can. if it isn’t sticky it could fly off!
